Nepal is a mountainous country. It is very beautiful, very peaceful, and has so many trekking places. All people who love mountains and hiking come to Nepal. Why? Because Nepal has a big Himalaya, a very old culture, kind people, and different treks. Some trek easy, some trek hard. Some long, some short. The trek starts from Nayapul, near Pokhara. First walk to Tikhedhunga, then climb many stairs to Ulleri. The next day I reached Ghorepani. Ghorepani is a nice village with rhododendron forests. Why are these treks a good mix?

All four treks give a different feeling. One is a high and full adventure (Everest Two Pass). One is short and sweet (Ghorepani). One is quiet and local (Khopra). One is short with an Everest view (Pikey Peak). So if you want to explore Nepal, try a mix of this.

  • Everest trek for high dream and challenge
  • Poon Hill for easy and classic
  • Khopra for offbeat and ridge walk
  • Pikey for fast Everest view and culture

No matter which trek, you feel nature, peace, and Himalaya magic.

Food and stay

On all treks, you stay in the tea house. Simple but warm. The room has a bed and a blanket. Toilets are sometimes inside, sometimes outside. Food is dal bhat (rice, lentil, and veg), noodles, momo, and soup. In the Everest trek, there are more bakeries and coffee shops.

In the Khopra trek, the lodge is community-type—local people run it, and money goes to the village. In Pikey Peak also, some places are homestay style. All over the place, you get hot tea, a smile, and a warm fire in the dining hall.

Health and safety

Trek in Nepal is safe, but go with a guide better. Drink clean water—use a filter or buy a bottle. Walk slowly, especially in high places. If you feel a headache, rest or go down. Always respect local rules. In high passes, weather can change fast—wind, snow, and fog. So prepare gear—warm clothes, a rain jacket, boots, sunglasses, and a sleeping bag.

In short treks like Poon Hill and Pikey, there is no problem with altitude. But I still walk slowly and enjoy the view.

What to pack

  • Good trekking boot
  • Down jacket
  • Rain cover or poncho
  • Hat and sunglasses
  • Water bottle and filter
  • Headlamp and power bank
  • Sleeping bag for cold place
  • Chocolate or snack

In Pikey and Khopra, night is cold even if the day is sunny. On the Everest trek, it was very cold at the pass.

Culture and people

On the Everest trek, you meet Sherpa—brave mountain people. They have Buddhist faith and many old monasteries. In Khopra and Poon Hill, Gurung and Magar people are strong and smiley and dance after harvest. In the Pikey trek, there are also Sherpa and Tamang mixes.

Say “Namaste” to locals, and always take off shoes when entering a home or temple. Buy tea or food in the village, and help the local economy. No need to give candy to kids—better to give books or pens to the school.

Budget idea

  • Everest Two Pass Trek: USD 1200 to 1800 with guide, permit, flight
  • Ghorepani Poon Hill: USD 300 to 500
  • Khopra Ridge: USD 400 to 600
  • Pikey Peak Trek: USD 350 to 500

Price changes if you go solo or in a group. Porter and guide are not necessary, but they help locally and make the trek easy.

Final Words

Nepal is a treasure for trekking. You don’t need to be a pro trekker. You just need a heart to walk and open eyes to see beauty. In this article, we share four treks—all special. Everest Base Camp with Two Pass is for adventurers. Ghorepani Poon Hill is for beginners and view lovers. Khopra Ridge is for quiet walkers. Pikey Peak is for a fast Everest view.
